Enhancing Halifax’s Quality of Place
Halifax’s quality of place is a powerful economic advantage. We collaborate with partners across the municipality to support the businesses and opportunities that make our city more vibrant, sustainable, and prosperous. From climate action to rural tourism, we are working to make Halifax a better place to live, work, and visit.
Climate Action Makes Business Sense
Co-created with senior business leaders and HRM’s Environment and Climate Change team, the CEO Climate Action Charter helps Halifax companies demonstrate climate leadership within their organizations and across the business community.
This year, Halifax Partnership and HRM worked with 25 charter signatories to develop and begin implementing a three-year action plan. Momentum was built through the inaugural CEO Climate Action Summit and a new working group of sustainability leads from signatory organizations.
In October, Halifax Partnership and HRM co-hosted the inaugural CEO Climate Action Summit with CEOs and senior leaders to explore climate action as a strategic business imperative for long-term growth and competitiveness.

Unlocking Eastern HRM’s Tourism Potential
Eastern HRM holds significant potential as a sustainable tourism destination. Halifax Partnership led the community-driven Eastern HRM Tourism Readiness Pilot, funded by the Province of Nova Scotia and supported by Discover Halifax, Tourism Nova Scotia and CBDC Bluewater, to support tourism and economic development in the region.
Working with over 50 businesses, residents and organizations from seven communities in Eastern HRM, the initiative identified tourism strengths and challenges and built local connections and capacity to develop sustainable, place-based experiences in this beautiful rural area of Halifax.
Eastern HRM is one of Halifax’s hidden gems, yet it captures just 2% of visitor traffic to the municipality. The Rural Tourism Readiness Pilot aimed to change that by supporting the community in defining the region’s tourism opportunity.
